Planning a Hen's Party? We've Got You Covered!

7 Easy Tips to Help you Plan a Hens!

Planning a hen's party is an exciting yet daunting task. From finding the perfect venue to coordinating activities and ensuring everyone has a blast, the pressure to create an unforgettable event can be overwhelming. If you're feeling the stress, don't worry – help is at hand! Here's how you can organise a spectacular hen's party without losing your cool.

1. Delegate Tasks

You don’t have to do everything alone. Enlist the help of bridesmaids and close friends to share the workload. Assign specific tasks like venue booking, activity planning, and guest coordination to different people. This way, you’ll ensure everything runs smoothly and have more fun in the process.

2. Consider Adding a Theme

A theme can simplify planning by giving you a clear direction for decorations, activities, and attire. Whether it's a classic '80s retro party, a glamorous Hollywood night, or a relaxed beach getaway, a theme adds an extra layer of fun and cohesiveness to the event.

3. Pick a Unique Activity

Move beyond the usual and opt for something memorable. Art-themed activities, like Life Drawing sessions or Clay Sculpture are great choices. They’re fun, engaging, and perfect for guests of all ages and interests. Plus, everyone gets to take home a personalised memento!

4. Plan Logistics Early

From transportation to accommodation, nailing down the logistics early on can save a lot of headaches. Make sure everyone knows the schedule, what to bring, and any special instructions well in advance.

5. Keep the Bride’s Preferences in Mind

While it's important to make sure everyone has fun, the bride’s preferences should be the priority. Incorporate her favorite activities, colours, and themes into the planning to make her feel special and celebrated.

6. Don’t Forget the Details

Little details can make a big difference. Personalised invitations, themed decorations, and thoughtful party favours can elevate the event from great to unforgettable. Pay attention to these touches to show you’ve put thought and care into the planning.

7. Relax and Enjoy

Finally, remember that a hen's party is about celebrating the bride and having fun. Don’t stress too much about perfection. As long as everyone is enjoying themselves and the bride feels loved, you’ve done an excellent job.

Planning a hen's party might seem challenging, but with a bit of help and these tips, you’ll create a memorable event that everyone will cherish.

It’s that time of year again, the daffodils are starting to bloom, the days are getting longer and the sun is finally starting to peak through those dark Melbourne clouds. It’s also that time of year when you start wishing you hadn’t had that third helping of pudding…. Here at The Hen and the Coq Events we are getting ready for the silly season and that includes our models! They are hitting the gym and getting ready to show off their fine physiques! One part of that is healthy eating and one of their go to drinks is the Green Smoothie!

I don’t know about you but I love Green Smoothies, they give you so much energy, help shift stubborn kilos and make your skin glow from the inside out.

Green smoothies are a great way to wake up, you actually feel virtuous downing one.

This avocado smoothie is no exception!

This recipe has all the nutrients from its ingredients that you need to get going in the morning: protein, healthy fats, and replenishing electrolytes. The superstar ingredient is avocado. Avocados boast a lovely dose of omega-3 essential fatty acids, which are vital for brain development and nerve function and have Vitamin K which is like the love drug of skin.

Gestural drawing – Games and techniques

Gestural drawing is one of the best experiences of a life drawing class. People are often surprised at the quality of their gestural drawings; even those who may have never picked up a 6B pencil in their life!

So what is gestural drawing? Gestural drawing is quickly drawing the human form to capture movement or motion. This is often done by sketching a model who changes pose quickly (say every 10-20 seconds).

Seeing the body in different poses and having a short and finite amount of time actually sharpens the eye and the instincts.

As drawing is essentially thinking with your eyes and we all have a deep familiarity with the human form, gestural drawing helps us to find ways to express and understand these forms.

Expressing the incredible shapes that the body can make, the layers and the lines, is encouraged by using swift strong strokes, then, if there is time, going back over the lines and emphasising and refining them.

It's really all about capturing the gesture and seeing where the energy and tension in the body is most prominent in the pose. Your pencil becomes an extension of your arm and your eyes and the more you look away from your page and focus on the body the more accurate your drawing will be.

So if the last time you were in an art class was in high school then maybe it's time to make your next catch up, Hens party, birthday or Corporate training event something that involves gestural drawing and challenge your instinctual artistic inner eye!

Maid of Honour Duties… what to expect.

You've been chosen as the Maid of Honour for your besties wedding. It's one of the most important days of their life so… no pressure!

As Maid of Honour it's your duty to help with the multitude of choices the bride and groom need to make – from the wedding dress, the flowers, the guest list, the groom's corsage, the venue, the drinks, the food, the invitations, the music and (of course!) the bridesmaids dresses… phew.

And the list goes on.

But arguably the most important Maid of Honour duty, though, is the organising of the Hens party! That's if your bride even wants one. It's become increasingly common for modern brides to skip the hens party altogether. This is mostly due to the perception of the old Hens night –  drunken sprawling across town with candied necklaces, penis straws and pink veils.

We'd rather have a cocktail.

We'd rather have a cocktail.

Don't get us wrong, we love a glass of champers and a cocktail but the days of penis whistles and spewing in the street are gone. I mean it's 2016!

We've evolved and so has the Hens night. The pink and "girly" clichés of the past and gone, modern girls want an experience and some fun on their "last night of freedom". Here at the Hen and the Coq our Life Drawing Parties are classy, stylish and a whole lot of fun! Not only will you experience the age-old art of drawing from life but you'll have a handsome nude male model from which to draw your inspiration. Your Hens will love sipping champagne while our professional art teacher guides them through the basics of life drawing and our gorgeous model poses and makes conversation.

It's the new Hens night experience – a Hens renaissance of you could say. :)
